"It's a rare talent that can turn out instant classics year after year, and Darby Scott has it, as these three bags from her new spring line show."

The lines are crisp and the shapes classic - trim luncheon bags and evening clutches - some with handles of semiprecious stones, a Scott hallmark. Scott usually works in exotic skins such as alligator and ostrich. This season, however, she has concentrated on one material, lizard, and one technique, sanding. The lizard is dyed and then sandblasted, giving the bag an almost eggshell finish, much more casual in contrast to the traditional sheen of untreated lizard.
